What am I allowed to eat with Invisalign?

What am I allowed to eat while wearing Invisalign?
When you compare Invisalign aligners to fixed braces, one of the advantages of Invisalign, is that they allow you to eat absolutely anything, because they can be removed while you eat.
However in order to maximise the success rate of orthodontic treatments with Invisalign, we would like to bring up a few important points in this article:
- Remember that the recommended wearing time is 22 hours a day, so you should only remove the appliance during meals and when brushing your teeth.
- It is recommended that you brush your teeth and clean your aligners before putting them back in your mouth - for optimal hygiene.
- While eating, the aligners should be stored in the special designed case, NOT in napkins, NOT in a pocket without a case, NOT on the table. The case will keep your aligners clean, safe and easy to find.

What am I allowed to drink with Invisalign?
As long as you take off your aliners, you can enjoy any beverage (coffee, tea, smoothies, wine, etc.), but if you can't remove the aliners, we recommend you consider the following:
- You should avoid drinking hot drinks with the aligners in your mouth as the heat can deform them.
- You may want to avoid dark drinks that can stain your aligners.
- Avoid sweetened, carbonated and/or alcoholic beverages as they can encourage enamel demineralisation and caries (this also applies to patients with/without braces).
- If your drink contains small chunks/solid particles that can get stuck under your aligners (such as seeds and fiber in smoothies), then you should remove the aligners to enjoy your drink.
We encourage dinking plain water!

We recommend that you avoid snacking between meals to keep the aligners on your teeth as much as possible for maximum efficiency! Getting used to Invisalign takes a little time and may require some minimal changes to your eating habits, but once you've seen that beautiful, healthy, new smile, you'll agree it was all worth it!
